I have not been on here in over a year!!! That is crazy. So, here is an update on all things Wren. Wolfe is almost two years old. He is getting so big, so fast. He talks alot now and we really have to watch what we say because he likes to copy us...if you know what I mean. We took him to the Urologist in August and they determined that his left kidney does not have any functioning at all. Good thing is that he has not had any kidney infections thus far, so they are going to just keep him on antibiotics daily for another year and see if the reflux improves. Keep your fingers crossed.

My dad is still living in Wisconsin, but he did sign a commuter agreement to move back to AZ and work from home whenever he isn't traveling to other countries. So, the only problem now is moving. He is pretty busy and with the Holidays and snowy weather, he probably won't actually get to move back until Spring, but we'll see. I am so happy because he surprised us and will be here for Thanksgiving after all. This is going to be a good one, I just know it.

I have already been working in Morenci for over a year. It is crazy how fast time flies. I really enjoy it and like staying busy, I just do not like the time I waste driving. It is unproductive. While I don't mind the actual drive, I just hate that I am not at work and I am not at home with Wolfie, it is time wasted, you know? But on the bright side, I was promoted last month to a Generalist II. I couldn't believe it. It happened so fast and unexpectedly. I am still riding high from it. What a huge blessing!!!

We are spending Christmas in Tucson this year and I am really looking forward to it. It will be a nice change, but next year we will be back with my family. We already got Wolfie his "big" presents. A Yamaha Raptor replica four-wheeler (you know the ones you see at Wal-Mart by the barbie jeeps, and john deer trucks) and we also got him a little Cars bike with matching helmet. Whenever we go to my sister's house, he loves trying to ride little Erynn's bike so why not get him his own? He may be too young, but maybe he'll learn faster.

I am just really looking forward to the Holidays and spending time with family. This has been a pretty great year and I have alot to be thankful for. Here are some family pictures we took in October. Wolfie is getting so big!

Update

Wow! It has been like 6 months since the last update! I can't believe how fast time has flown. Wolfe is now 10 months old and has grown so much. He has 7 teeth, he is almost walking, he can clap his hands and shake his head, he will occasionally wave good-bye, and he loves to blow razberries with Todd. He has been such a blessing to us. I am sad to realize just how much he has grown already. He will be 1-yr old before we know it!

As for everything else, life is good. I cannot complain. Todd transferred to the Safford in June, and it was nice because we were working together for a few months....but I actually transferred to the Morenci mine in Sept. when I got a promotion. I was sad to leave my co-workers behind, but great opportunity and experience awaits me in Morenci. So far, it has been good. Everyone has been very nice and helpful and I am just so happy that I got a job in my field of study. I worked hard to get my degree and now I can start applying what I have learned.

My dad is still based out of Wisconsin and is a traveling man! He was in India over the summer and he just got back from Canada and will be heading to Columbia tomorrow. We got to see him last weekend for the 1st time since March. We miss him dearly.

So, for now - our life pretty much revolves around work and Wolfe. Not a whole lot going on but I would rather be happy and drama-free than to have a lot of stories to tell. We are looking forward to the Holidays and spending time with family. I hope to keep you posted more often!

May 2010 Update

Okay, so I need to update big time. Where do I begin?

1) Well, we got family pictures taken in April and they turned out so good. I will post some of my favorites at the end of this blog.

2) I took Wolfe to the Dr. yesterday for his immunizations and he weighs 13lbs. 12 oz! He is getting so big. But it also turned out that he has Pink Eye, so I am having to give him some drops to clear it up. It looks 10x better today, but now he is running a slight fever and has been super cranky all day. The clinic said immunizations can sometimes have that effect on babies. Poor little guy.

3) Turns out I have a sinus infection and have been miserable since yesterday night. I had to stay home from work today to take care of the baby and myself and looks like I won't be going in tomorrow either. I love spending any time I can with the baby but I also hate missing work!!!

4) I went with my sister's family and my mom to tour the Gila Valley Temple last night. It was neat. I might have enjoyed the experience better if I wasn't preoccupied watching over Wolfe and focusing on the intense pain that I had on my heels from where my "dress shoes" had caused blisters. Talk about ouch! It is a very beautiful building. I can appreciate and accept that it is the House of the Lord because I feel that all churches and places of worship are Houses of the Lord. If I were Mormon, it might have meant more to me than that, but it didn't. Beautiful building, in any event. Glad that my sister invited me and that I got to see it. Here is a pic.

5) I came home last night, not feeling good, tired, and ready for bed only to find a snake in the house!!! Thank the Lord it was only a garter snake or something like that. I shooed it out the back door with a broom and am pretty certain that it slithered its way in through Megan's doggy door. Needless to say, Todd and I will be replacing it with a better one. It looked kind of like this.

6) I got my diploma in the mail! It is official now (to me). I have received a Master of Science in Human Resource Leadership. Woo hoo!

7) Todd and I had our 3 year anniversary in April. Cannot believe another year has flown by.

8) Well, that is all I can think of right now, so I will leave you with some of our Family Pictures.

Our 'lil cutie and more tidbits

Well, I have been back to work for a few weeks now and it was not as bad as I anticipated. It is nice being back and I realize how much I enjoy my job and the people I work with. The baby is such a good sleeper. He wakes up usually only once or twice a night. It is rare when I have to wake up more than that. Some people say I am being spoiled, but I think my baby just loves his sleep as much as mommy and daddy do! Anyways, it sure has made going back to work easier. I still get at least 7 hours of sleep a night, so I can't complain.

When we went to the Dr. a couple of weeks ago, Wolfe weighed 10lbs 7oz and is in the 25th percentile. I was not quite sure what that means, but now I know that basically he is still a little guy compared to other babies his age. His eyes are still blue, but they aren't getting any lighter or darker - so we are still on the fence as to whether or not they will stay. My dad moved to Milwaukee for a new job, so it has been kind of sad without him around, but we are so excited for him. His new job will be taking him all over the world. So far, we know he will be traveling to Canada, Russia, and India. Places I would have never dreamed he would go to someday. We are very proud of him.

In general, Todd and I are doing good. We both have our jobs, a home, our families, and our baby...so I cannot complain. We are anticipating our tax return any day now so we can pay off some much needed bills. Once that is taken care of, it will releive some stress. We will be getting professional pictures taken on Good Friday, so keep an eye out for a blog on that. I will leave you with a few pics of Wolfe. He is the cutest lil guy I ever did see.

Right after a bath and all ready for bed

Happy boy just playing around

"Mom, will you leave me alone already?"

What a cute little smile he has.

Ooh, what a ladies man!

Growing

Wolfe is almost 7 weeks old now. When we took him to the Dr. today, he was 9lbs. 5oz.! He is getting so big and growing so fast! He is way more alert during the day and no longer fits into any of his newborn clothes. When we went to the urologist, we found out the he has reflux in his "bad" kidney, which sucks because he has to take antibiotics daily. But on a positive note, the urologist also said that it appears that the "bad" kidney is functioning, after all. So, for now we will just monitor his kidneys, and if the "bad" one continues to grow with his body, he will probably live life with two kidneys and they will just fix the reflux when he is 2 years old or so! But if it starts to shrink, they may need to remove it when he is 2. So, we will just keep our fingers crossed, hope for the best, and wait it out.

Everyone still says that Wolfe looks more like Todd, but I can definitely see him looking more and more like me. I cannot believe how much he has changed already in the past few weeks. Here are some pics that we took today. He was wearing the cutest little outfit and we couldn't resist taking some pics. This was also the first time he wore shoes!

BIG EYES!!

Chillin like a villain

He was getting really tired!

He lookes horrified in this one! I am going to be so sad, but that's how it goes. Luckily, we will not need a sitter every single day because Todd is home alot of the time. I know that the real hard work will begin when I have to go back to work because I won't get to take a nap later in the day or lounge around the house if I am feeling lazy. Waking up at 4:30am to get me and baby ready is going to suck, especially if he has had a rough night, but I just have to remind myself that tons of mothers have done it before me and that I just need to suck it up and get the job done. Goodbye sleep, it has been nice knowing you!

Facebook | Alisa Wren

Facebook Alisa Wren

3 weeks

Well, it has been three weeks now since our sweet little boy officially entered the world, and it has been so wonderful! Both I and Todd have taken time off from work so we have been able to learn and experience parenthood together. It has been so nice and I will be very sad when Todd goes back to work next week, but luckily he is home half the time anyway - so we will still get to spend time together.
I have been spit up on, pooped on, peed on, and mildly sleep deprived - but I wouldn't trade it for the world. When I get overwhelmed, all I have to do is think about when I was pregnant and how hard I prayed for God to let me be a mother and that is all the reminder I need to carry on. He truly is a miracle and I am so grateful for how well I have recovered and how well Todd and I have adjusted to this life-changing experience all together.
Wolfe weighs 7 pounds, 1 ounce now. He continues to sleep alot during the day - and wakes up a couple times during the night. We are still working on him staying awake during the day so he will sleep even more at night. Although I am very eager for him to start smiling and playing, I know that I must cherish these moments while he is so small. I know time will fly by fast. Here are some more pics of our little guy.

Proud Parents!!!

He's Here!

I am so happy to announce that Todd and I received the best Christmas present anyone could ask for this year. At 7:42am on Christmas morning, our son - Wolfe Philip James Wren - was born.

Although my due date was not until January 12th, I ended up getting induced last week when I began showing early signs of preeclampsia (high blood pressure). After a long Wednesday night and Thursday, my water finally broke Thursday night - so they began administering pitosin. I continued to progress through the night, but by Friday morning, the baby was showing signs of stress because his little heart rate would go down with each contraction. I was only at 6cm, so the Dr. told me that we would have to do a c-section to get the little guy out.

I was so scared and worried, but luckily everything went very quickly and pretty smoothly and before I knew it, Todd and I could hear his sweet cry and we knew he was okay.

Weighing in at 6 pounds 11 ounces and 19" long, he is such a sweet baby. He has dark hair, eyes and mouth like his daddy - but I think he has my nose forehead. He loves to sleep and boy will he get upset if he is cold. We are so happy and I feel so blessed. Getting a gift from God on Christmas day, well it just don't get any better than that!!!!

Wolfe Philip James Wren

Oh Christmas Tee, Oh Christmas Tree...

Okay, finally finished the tree on Sunday. Todd was determined to put lights up on the house, so he and my dad got on the roof today and put up lights. It came out great, and it is exciting to finally have a home of our own to decorate. We put up a tree, too - but it isn't finished yet - so as soon as it is done, I will post a pic or two. For now, here is a quick glance at what the oustide looks like.

30 weeks

So, it has been awhile. I am now at 30 weeks. I see my Dr. every week and go to the hospital weekly for non-stress testing. I had a songram last week, and the baby was looking good. The kidneys are the same, but are functioning adequately. The time is going fast but not fast enough. I anxiously await the day I will get to hold the baby and see him for the first time. November and December promise to be very busy months for us, so I am glad that I will be plenty occupied to pass the time. I have been so focused on the pregnancy and everything that goes along with it, that I have paid little attention to the fact that in 5 more weeks, I will be done with my Master's! Woo-hoo. Well, that's all for now. I will leave you with a picture taken today. For only gaining 11 pounds, I sure look big!!

What do ya think?

Okay, so I am not one of those girls who gets frequent haircuts or manicures or pedicures or acrylic nails or tans or any of that. In fact, my last haircut was in February. No joke! February! So, after almost 8 months of hair neglect, I finally went and got it cut, at Wal-Mart, of all places! But I actaully like the way it came out. Although this is pretty common, I freaked out. The tech did not tell me much and just gave me enough information to worry, but the Dr. assured me that there is no cause for concern at this point. "We just have to keep a close eye on it". Here is a picture of me from last Sunday.
And here is the ultrasound pic I got this week. You can see the baby's face and little hands. He kind of looks like the Phantom of the Opera at this point, but I don't mind because that is one of my absolute favorite movies! I also think he has Todd's nose.

Until next time, God bless!

Red, red wine

So, if you will recall a few posts back, our kitchen was a hideous, generic, mint-chocolate chip ice-cream green. When we first moved into our house, I always said that was going to be the first to go. Well, after 6 months of procrastination, I can now say that we finally painted it Red, Red Wine. Todd was out of town so, my dad was kind enough to devote his Saturday to helping me paint. I think it came out great, and I can't wait to finish decorating our wine-themed kitchen. Here are some before and after pics.

BEFORE

AFTER

Update

So, the technical term for what the baby has is multicystic displastic kidney. His left kidney has cysts in it, and it doesn't look like it is going to function. The rights kidney looks good. Todd and I have to go to Tucson next week for genetic counseling to see if this is hereditary. Although no one in my family has kidney issues, Todd has some questionable issues on his. So, we'll see.

How am I doing with all of this? I am okay with the fact that my baby will only have one kidney. I can handle that, but I am just so worried and getting worked up about the other kidney. As long as it stays in good shape, the baby will be okay, but if the other kidney gets cysts...that is a fatal condition.

I am so greatful that he only has this condition in one kidney, but I can't help worrying about the "what ifs". It is so scary to think about.

Here is a picture I recieved this last week at my ultrasound. It is proof that we are having a boy.

Finally

So, after weeks and weeks of waiting, I finally had my full anatomy ultrasound today. I was really bummed because at first, the lady couldn't tell the sex because the baby's legs were closed. And then she had to bring another tech in because they found some unusual cyst looking spots on the baby's left kidney. So, I will have another ultrasound next week to further examine the kidney. So, please keep us in your thoughts and prayers that everything turns out to be okay when the baby is born!

Then, at the end, the guy tech asked if we wantd to know what we were having because he could tell by that time. We said yes, and he showed us that the baby was a Boy. So, after all of that wiating, I finally know. I asked him if he was sure it wasn't the umbilical cord or something, and he said he was positive. So, woo hoo. I had convince myself it was a girl, so Iwas surprised by this news. Well, only 20 more weeks to go! I will keep you posted. God bless!

Intelligender

Okay, so you may or may not have heard about the Intelligender Gender Prediction Test that pregnant girls, like myself, can take as early as 10 weeks to see what the baby is going to be. I thought it would be fun to take one, so this morning I did. My first instinct was Girl because it did not look dark enough to be a boy, but after I came home today, looked at the results on the manufacturers website, and re-evaluated my own results - I am not sure. Take a look. Here is the pic from this morning. As you can see, it kind of matches the yellowy-orange color that would indicate a girl, but it is cloudy, and I am holding it up to the sun.

Here is a pic I took this afternoon, without the sun. It looks dark, and seem to match the green color that would indicate a boy. What do you think?

So, basically, I have no idea what I am having still and even if this test was the perfect shade of orange or green, it is still only 82% accurate. So, for now, I will go with my first impression, and say it is a girl. We will find out for sure in 8 more weeks or so!
Due date: January 12th, 2010
Sex: 82% Girl

Update

So, I went to the Dr. again last week, and the baby is looking good and growing. "It" (I hate saying that) has little arms and legs now! I am barely 10 weeks. I feel like time is dragging, but I need to be enjoying this time while I have it, becase it will never just be me and Todd again. My next appointment is in a month and I can't hardly wait! Here is the latest sonogram. The baby was actually upside down in my tummy, so I had to flip the picture around so you can better see him/her.

Here is some help, if you can't tell where the arms and legs are.

Until next time, God bless!

It's Official

So, I finally made it to the Dr. today, and it's official, I AM PREGNANT! I am only about 8 weeks along, so we still have a loooong way to go, but the baby (embryo) has a heart beat already and everything. It all became so real when I saw that little heart beat. It's like, "Oh my gosh! There is actually something alive and growing inside of me!" Me and Todd are so happy, but scared at the same time, that something could go wrong. So, we are doing everything we can to keep this little one safe and healthy.
Due Date: January 12th, 2010
Sex: Unknown

Here is a picture of a pregnancy test I took this morning just to make sure. There was a new guy that started working there. One day when I was talking, being my normal sweet, loving self, he came up to me and asked "Has anyone ever told you you are annoying?" I was appauled and insulted. "You think I am annoying?" I asked. "No," he smirked. "Just asking." And he walked off. I couldn't stand that guy! 5 years later, we got married, and I am happy to say that today is mine and Todd's 2 year anniversary. He is still the blunt, tactless, stubborn boy that I met 7 years ago, and I wouldn't have him any other way. We have gone through alot these past two years of marriage, and I feel that right now we are at our prime. We both have great jobs, a beautiful house, and the prospect of little ones just over the horizon. We definitely have our bad times, but there is never a boring day in the Wren household. I love you Todd and I can't wait to see what this next year has in store for us!

This is a picture of us in 2002 just after we started dating. Todd and I bought a home! We closed on it last Monday and have been moving in the last couple of days. It is so nice and perfect for us. It is in Thunderbird Estates here in Safford. It is a 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 Bath, 2 story home, with a 2-car garage on 2.12 acres. We are so excited to finally have a place to call our own where we ar not renting. Once we finish decorating, I will post some pics of the inside, but for now, here is pic of the house. Woo hoo!!!

A quarter of a century!!!

So....tomorrow is my birthday. I will be 25! A quarter of a century old! I cannot believe it. Time is going by so fast! I am so scared that I am going to blink my eyes and be 60 before I know it! Unfortunately, it will be an uneventful day tomorrow. Work as usual and then (get this) I have two finals I have to complete for school that will take me 4.5 hours. So basically, there goes my entire night. My mom says, as you get older, your birthday is just another day. That makes me sad. I think your birthday should always be special whether you are turning 1, 16, or 61. So, Todd is going to take me shopping over the weekend, so I am excited for that, and my dad already got me some clothes from Old Navy, so that was really nice. I just wish I didn't have to spend my day working and doing schoolwork. Oh well. As I look back on the first 25 years of my life, I would say I am happy with where I am now. I had a good childhood, mischevious teenage years, party-time college years, and am now enjoying a calmer, pleasant married life. I look forward to what life still has in store for me. The moment I get to tell my hubby I am pregnant with our first child, buying our first home, getting my Master's Degree, finding my place in the world of motherhood, and so much more. I welcome this new chapter with open arms and just pray that it doesn't go by as fast as these past 25 years have. I thank God for all that I have and can't wait to see what he has in store for me. So...
Happy Birthday to me
Happy Birthday to me
Happy Birthday Dear Alisa
Happy Birthday to me

Goodnight!

Welcome Erynn! You are in for a crazy ride!

So, me & Todd are an Auntie & Uncle again! My sister had another beautiful baby girl on February 8th. Her name is Erynn Kinley Johnson, and I got to be there for the birth this time. It was so cool and I felt honored that my sister let me be in there for the main event! Erica was induced on Saturday, the 7th and it took all night before she was finally ready to come out. But once she did, man, all it took was like three quick pushes and she was out! She is so pretty with dark brown hair and blue eyes like her sisters.

But now comes the bad news. Erynn hadn't been feeling well last week and she even had a temperature of 102! So, Erica took her to the doctor and they ran some tests and they had to put her in the hospital. The had to put an IV in her to give her fluids, a catheter for her to urinate, and even give her a spinal tap to make sure she didn't have meningitis! Poor little baby was poked and prodded all weekend! Then, we found out this morning that when they did the last culture test on her, they found traces of e-coli! Poor baby has e-coli! So, they are giving her medicine and she should be ready to go home tomorrow, but if you get a chance-say a prayer for Erynn and my family that she get well soon! It is so scary to think that something bad could happen to her! Here are some pictures of her that my dad took. Her eyes aren't open, but once I get one-I will post it!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://thewrenchronicles.blogspot.com/2009/03/welcome-erynn-you-are-in-for-crazy-ride.html' title='Welcome Erynn! Many who had been with the company (formerly Phelps Dodge) for years, building up a retirement, not thinking they would ever have to look for another job again. So, I was so scared that Todd was going to lose his. I mean, he has only been there a year and a half and his chances were not looking good. But gratefully, I got a text Monday morning at 7:09am telling me that he had made it! He still has his job! I am so happy, releived, and worried for the next layoff scare. I honestly thank God for this and I know that he has a plan. I also want to thank San Martin Caballero. I lit a candle and prayed for him to help out, and sure enough, he did!!! The candle is still burning, on its 5th day now. I just pray that the economy gets better so no more people (Todd & myself included) have to lose their jobs.

On a happier note, I did our taxes and we are getting a good amount back!!! We are going to put it in savings and add it to our house fund. Things are looking up a bit for us, I am scared to enjoy it, in fear that it will all fall out from under us. You know, the eye of the storm. Things settle just enough to make you think everything is okay, and then Bam! The worst of it happens. I will just keep praying and have faith that everything will be okay in the end!

First Blog on this thing

Well, I am Pro-Myspace-but I decided to give this BlogSpot thing a try. It's nice to stay in touch with people I know, and where else can you peek into other people's lives without them knowing? (hee hee). A few things about myself? Well, uh, I am married to Todd, I love Jesus, I am pursuing my Masters degree in HR, and I hate tomatos! Does that sum it all up? I am not coming on here pretending like I have a perfect life, a perfect family, and life has been peachy kean since high school. I am a real person with real opinions, real feelings, and real screw-ups, ya dig? Our blogspot address is The Wren Chronicles, because that is exactly what this is. Stories of our life together, lessons we will learn, mistakes we will make, and memories we will cherish. I will try to keep this updated, but between work, school, and tending to a 26 year-old kid, it may be a little tough. We will just have to see what life has in store, until next time-Peace.
